Half Term News
During our 'Robot Rampage' topic we looked at famous engineers - the children were fascinated by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. They produced interesting biographies about him that focused on his childhood, his designing skills and the legacy of bridges, railways and tunnels that are still around today.
After an exciting visit to the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff Bay (to kick start the topic) we wrote some exciting adventure stories where we assisted the Doctor in saving the planets with our robots.
We have been developing our teamwork skills and built group robots out of recycled materials. We explored how to make electrical circuits and were challenged to put a circuit into the robots - some groups had buzzers while others had lighting up eyes! We evaluated them to see what we liked about our robots and what we would like to do better next time.

Talk Homework (week beginning 4th March)
Dosbarth Twcan– Talk Homework (Week beginning 4th March)
This week, as part of our topic ‘Natural Disasters’, we will be writing about famous volcanoes from around the world. We will be learning about different volcanoes over the next couple of day and the pupils will be selecting the one they will be writing about: Mount Etna, Mount Vesuvius, Mount Pelee and Eyjafjallajokull (they will bring an overview of their chosen one home). You are welcome to start talking and finding out more about the different ones from the internet. I would like you to think and talk about some of the following:
· Where the volcano is
· What type of volcano it is
· It’s eruptions
· The effect its eruptions have had
· Stories of gods etc that are linked to the volcano
Happy talking!
Mrs Tucker
maths!
This week we are working on our 5 and 10 times tables. We will be multiplying and learning that it does not matter which order the numbers come in, for example, 5x6 is the same as 6x5. We will be dividing by 5 and 10 and using money to solve practical problems.
